5 Unique Bachelorette Party Ideas in the Midwest

It’s the last fling with the gals before he puts a ring on it and everyone is ready to have some fun! Celebrate your unique bride by throwing an exceptional farewell to singledom. Here is our list of out-of-the box bachelorette party ideas within a few hours’ drive from Northeastern Indiana.

1. Put-In-Bay, Ohio

If you are looking for the ultimate Miami Beach or Vegas party experience without the hassle of air travel be sure to check out Put-In-Bay! It won’t disappoint. This small island in Lake Erie just north of Sandusky, Ohio may be small, but is packed full of fun! Kick things off right with a ferry ride to party island! Hit up the countless swim bars and bask in the sun as DJs keep the beats pumping all day long! Ready to get out of the pool – there is a ton of clubs for dancing, tiki bars and even an island winery!

If you need a break from partying, opt for something more adventurous like paddle-boarding, parasailing, jet skiing or take a ferry to Cedar Point Amusement Park.

2. Cincinnati, Ohio

On the opposite end of Ohio is Cincinnati or the Queen’s city. Located along the Ohio River, Cincinnati offers a variety of fun options for an overnighter or weekend trip.

Kick your celebration off with a foodie tour at the Findlay Market, a unique area of downtown Cincinnati that will be sure to get your taste buds reeling. Walk over the river from Ohio and into Kentucky to explore the historic Mainstrasse Village with several boutiques and thrifty options. Don’t forget King’s Island lies on the outer circle of Cincinnati too!

As night falls, hop onto a Queen City Riverboat and do a Moonlight River Cruise. Belterra Park Casino, located in downtown, provides Vegas excitement. Watch a horse race and then hit up the slots for your chances of a good time with the gals. Don’t miss exploring Mount Adams (think of Mass Ave in Indy). Just a cab ride away (yes, I recommend a cab, the streets can get a bit narrow on the mount) are scenic views of the city and an epic nightlife. Visit the Blind Melon – one of the most historic bars in Cincinnati then pop over to Monk’s Cove to challenge your friends at Guitar Hero and sing your heart out at karaoke!

3. Burlesque Experience

Every Bachelorette deserves to learn some saucy moves to heat up her wedding night and what better way than through the art of Burlesque! Head up to Chicago’s Vaudezilla and learn from some of the best people in biz how to gracefully move your body in the sexy art of burlesque. Experience a cabaret with fabulous outfits and theatrics.

Vaudezilla also offers more than classes and performances. Memorable workshops like DIY Wedding Garter and Makeup Bags, a naughty version of Paint & Sip spins a funky twist to traditional classes. Learn the art of Essential Oil Perfumes or indulge your senses with a Chocolate Candies cooking class plus more!

4. Indianapolis Adventure

You don’t have to go far to sprinkle in adventure. Head to Go Ape at Eagle Creek Park outside of Indianapolis. Book their tree-top tour and swing like Tarzan (or Jane) through the tree-lines. This 2-3 hour experience guides you through Eagle Creek Park and challenges you through suspended obstacles. Check out this breathtaking video.

Refuel before the next adventure and what better way than along Indianapolis’ iconic canal. Delicious options like Farmer’s Market Café (inside the Indiana State Museum) or Burgerhaus are both accessible from the canal and are big hits with beautiful views.

While several museums and attractions line the canal (like the Indiana State Museum, Elteljorg, and the Zoo), we recommend renting bikes or kayaking the canal! While most Hoosiers have explored downtown Indianapolis in some measure, biking or kayaking the White River is worth every moment. Wheel Fun Rentals offers two rental locations. One near Ohio Street and the other by White River State Park.

End the evening in Downtown Indianapolis at Howl at the Moon singing along the dueling pianos or at Taps and Dolls playing video games and challenging each other to a dance off!

5. Indiana Wine Trail

When it comes to Bachelorette Parties, wine is an almost certainty! Check out Indianawines.org for inspiration and guidance on wine trails by region or get crazy and make your own. While there is absolutely no wrong way to exploring the many great Indiana wineries, we recommend the chauffeured option (because who wants to be the DD)?! Chauffeured experiences by deTours Indiana Wines or Beyond the Vine remove the hassle from getting from point A to point B. Kick back, relax, and enjoy some much-needed gal-pal time.

Whatever you decide – have fun and be safe!

Much love,

The Sheep
